Most fun I think I ever had making a cake....

I had more fun making this cake! It was my husbands grooms cake. We got married October 15th so I tried to find a funny Halloween thing I could tie into the wedding and the colors. Not the best photo but you can se the balls and chains and the little skeletons....you get the idea. Went to Hobby Lobby and found the little stick on letters. Perfect color and design for what I wanted. Too bad they weren't edible! It actually says "till death do us part" across the front. I got tons of comments on this one!

Since it's the Season again...

I came across this accidentally. It has to be the neatest thing I've ever seen...and we think we have brownies now....
Try this!! Tell me what you think. This recipe is hand written and dated 1896.....now thats REAL cooking! Other than the recipe, all it says is "Brownies" and the date. The paper is so old and worn I almost couldn't read it. It must have belonged to my Memaw or possibly her mother. Wow! I just love going through all of the old treasures packed away! I have so many more like this to share. Can't wait to hear your comments on this one!
I am posting this exactly as I am reading it....

               Brownies.
1/3 cup butter.                                                    1 egg well beaten.
1/3 cup powdered sugar.                                  7/8 cup bread flour.
1/3 cup Porto Rico molasses .            1 cup pecan meat cut into pieces.

Mix ingredients in order given.  Bake in small, shallow, fancy cake tins, garnishing each cake with one-half pecan.

I am aware that it gives no temperature. I am also pretty sure that Porto Rico molasses no longer exists. As for "fancy cake tins", I used mini muffin pans. Worked fine for me. You may have a better way...let's hear it!
